Technology Has Changed the Hotel World

  1. Technology Changed the Hotel World

Did you know that we assist hotels in supplying professional transportation for a variety of situations? Occasionally we help by caring for shuttle transport at a massive event, like a business gala dinner or huge business convention. (And we’re not too shabby at shuttling visitors to and from the airport, either.)

There are a few Of us who recall what it was like to book accommodations several decades ago, before the advent of the world wide web. If you were planning a trip, the manner that you found out what flights were available, the leasing cars you could choose from, or that places had vacancies so you’d have a place to stay was mostly through calling a travel agent. (And hey, even if you are young enough that the world wide web is all you have ever known, you still may remember your dad utilizing an agent for traveling. It’s how it was done then.)

But.

My, how the times have changed. When you begin to take into account the effects of the Web on the hotel sector alone, many items pop out at you straight away. (And frankly, we’re likely forgetting lots of things, because we are so accustomed to living in 21st-century America. The planet we swim in is just one of smart phones, which essentially suggests that Google lives in your pocket 24/7.)

While you might site additional examples (and point out what we’ve missed), below are a few of the ways technology has altered the hotel market.

Everything is done electronically. The requirement for a middleman is basically, and completely, outdated. If you’re thinking about traveling to a certain place, you pull out your telephone and Google it. If you are curious just how much it is going to cost you, then you hop on Expedia, Hotwire, or Travelocity, and compare airlines, car rentals, and hotel rates all at once. If you would like to find out what local attractions a city has to offer, all you want to do is type in, “Things to do in ___________” in your search engine, and you’ll get more websites to investigate than you probably care to research (not to mention that you might not have that type of time). Gone are the days of needing to call a hotel to find out what’s available or what the going rate will be. It simply is not done just like that anymore.

Reviews. Because of the World Wide Web, you can read reviews galore. It’s simple to find out all the reasons why a hotel was spot on with their support, or all of the ways they royally flunked in that department. Hotels can’t fake it ’til they make it anymore. . .cuz whatever experience guests have at a resort will soon be broadcast all over the Internet. (No pressure or anything.)

Let us discuss social networking. Particularly one of the millennial generation, communicating and sharing with friends and family is paramount to feeling connected and grounded in everyday life. (Hi, social media!) How many of us have been around Facebook or even Instagram and been taken someplace, miles off, because of a post highlighting aspects of a friend’s vacation? And just how does this translate to hotels? Well. This goes along with testimonials, but if they love where they are staying, they are gonna talk this up on this societal network: from the wonderful drink bar that is available at this place to the impeccable service, stunning view, or crazy good restaurant that’s available at this specific accommodation website. And honestly, hotels are able to utilize it to their benefit as well. They could put in sticks for hot bargains, highlight new locations which are launching, and even allow guests to post to their feeds.

Better advertising coverage. No question. All these things type of intermix and mingle, but honestly, when was it ever as simple as it is now to find thousands of pictures of travel locations, located on sites, travel sites, and tour operator websites? And it’s all at our hands–simply put it in, and #boom. Hotels can advertise specials such as never before, reveal whole videos and beautifully recorded photos highlighting their rooms along with all the various attractions that are part of the stay they’re pitching to their guests. It’s 1 thing to reserve on a whim; it is another to be taken in by photos and reviews and deals which you can only discover by accessing the world wide web. At times you can also live chat with a resort representative as you’re making arrangements to get your particular questions answered.

And finally, what about the impact of programs? This is one that is difficult to even place an accurate tab, because we have become so accustomed to smartphones that we do not even think twice since we utilize apps for so many facets of our own lives. You can compare hotel prices, publication, and pay–all inside the app. And what about portable check in, cuz gone will be the times when you need to visit the front desk to get a physical key to your area. That smartphone is a pretty handy object. . .just sayin.

Even though times have radically changed, there is a whole lot in that change which has brought a huge convenience to the modern traveler. Comparing rates and booking accommodations has never been simpler. So, if you have got a trip on the horizon, then chances are you will start negotiating that trip before thinking about what you’re doing. You will pull your phone out and begin exploring details, cuz like it or not, that’s precisely how it’s done nowadays.

And if you are a hotel With a large upcoming event, we would love to help with the transportation. Call us today, and we are going to put our very best foot forward. We know that our service affects your standing, and we’ll give it our best. Partnering with hotels to take care of guests is a privilege for us!
