General Manager

We have become the dominant charter transportation company within the Pacific NW and have been recognized as the first Trusted Carrier Partner by the Dept. of Transportation.  We are looking for a General Manager who will take us to the next level!  Responsibilities include developing an effective organization, in line with budgeted goals. Includes direct oversight of Sales, Dispatch, Fleet Services, Quality and Safety Controls, and Driver Management. The General Manager has strong sales responsibilities, creating an overall strategic marketing/sales plan, capitalizing on those elements that have made us the top carrier in the Pacific NW. At all times, the General Manager is responsible for maintaining a workplace and external business face, which supports the NWN Mission Statement, Vision and Values and is focused on profitability.

Job Details:
• Working with ownership in the business planning process; provide leadership to the management team; establishing priorities and actions towards such plans.
• Work with ownership to develop annual budgets and sales financial objectives
• Maintain the financial stability of the company; administer programs to protect its assets, owners and team members. Included achieving annual increase in sales while achieving a 20%+ profit margin.
• Oversight of a Safety-First operation, adhering to all Federal and State mandates
• Responsible for fleet readiness and Excellence at all times
• Oversee month-to-month, seasonal and annual flow of service requirements and client relationships
• Maximize operational effectiveness during peak business needs
• Monitor transportation costs and target areas that yield greater efficiencies and cost savings
• Oversee workforce growth and employee retention
• Manage after hours/weekend Manager-on-Duty staffing coverage

Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience).
• Experience in Operations Management, Transportation, Fleet Logistics or Dispatch is beneficial. We will absolutely consider experience from other industries, including the Hospitality arena.
• Helpful to understand Dept. of Transportation regulations. If you come from a different industry, tell us how your experiences might translate to success!
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and meet specific goals and deadlines.
• Detailed knowledge of financial planning, P&L analysis, and margin improvement.
• Experience motivating, training, leading, and evaluating the performance of subordinates.
• Must be proficient with business systems and Microsoft Office software (Motive, Samsara, Speed Gauge, TMW and/or other similar software experience is helpful.).
• Highly proficient in the use of MS Office – Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, & Word.
• As a requirement of the job, must secure a Class B or higher Commercial Driver License with Passenger endorsement within the first 6 months of employment.
Compensation: $80K base plus bonuses with potential earnings in excess of $100K/year.
