Seaside has a well regarded reputation as one of the region’s first resorts. Seaside has evolved in different respects over the last century, but many of the travel destinations from the past are still in operation. The biggest attraction of Seaside are the beaches, which bring many tourists during the warmer months of the year. Big summer tournaments, including the world’s largest competitive beach volleyball competition, are organized throughout the summer months, with hundreds of competitors. It is no wonder that this sunny, beautiful region awarded this section of the Oregon coast one of the highest rated beaches in the state.

One of the country’s most famous coastal fishing cities, Pacific City’s accessibility to the ocean from flat-bottomed dory boats directly from the beach makes it special. Cape Kiwanda, located at the northern boundary of the region, is a must-see experience for everyone. Other common ways of recreation involve visiting tidepools, surfing in the cove, and enjoying a beach bonfire.
During the spring and summer months, Depoe Bay is famed as “the whale-watching capital of the Oregon Coast”. Due to planned migrations, the town has established a Whale Watch Centre, observation decks on the beach, and a fleet of charters for whale and dolphin watching. The harbor in Depoe Bay is a rare, natural navigable harbor. The various geographical characteristics of the region produce a “spouting horn.” This happens when floods and choppy water strike the rocks, spraying huge geysers of seawater into the air, resulting in a sight called a “spouting horn.”
